well, obviously, the best dagger of choice would be a max zealous dagger of fortitude req8, but i dont think u have access to that. jus get the best one possible.
as for armor, get nightstalkers armor from the highest armor place u have accessed already.

dont buy armor until you can get max, its a waste of money. and just use whatever daggers you can pick up.

Um... you should get new armor when you get to KC.
As for daggers, I prefer the [wiki]Ungues of the Oni[/wiki] myself, Assassins almost need some zealous (sp) daggers.

Wow level 5! I suggest you go for the Saintly Ninja Armor of the Ancients, which can be acquired if you talk to the Xunlai Agent in Ran Musu Gardens and give him 5 Preserved Red Iris Flowers.
For the weapons, I suggest farming Minister Cho's Estate over and over again, untill you find the Savage Bastard Daggers of Carnage, which have 1337 damage. It will only take 1-30 full clears of that area untill you find it.
Hmm when will people learn; there is NO BEST in Guild Wars. No best armor, No best weapons, No best skill, No best Character Class, No best Hero.
Keep in mind that prices in GW are based on neat-ness and not best-ness. So cheap stuff can have the best effect, but only for your particular build.
For armor: get the highest armor possible, which is AL 60 in Keineng (dont ask, you'll get there eventually). You can find additional armor crafters before that, you should be able to complete everything with the armor you are given at start, but you can buy slightly better in Shing Jae, then even better in Ran Musu then even better in that Harbor town. As for the stats: it all depends on your build! If you are going to be a suicidal sin, without any healing, I suggest taking the + health type of armor. If you have a build with lots of energy needs, you go for the + energy ones. Or if you are trying to tank (not adviced as a sin), go for the +AL while attacking.
Same applies for weapons, if you need lots of energy and are constantly attacking, get daggers with zealous grip, etc etc.
There is no best in GW, only personal opinions and tastes.

He was jocking.
Untill you reach Kaineng center, you shouldn't bother with stuff.
There, you will be able to craft a max armor (70+ prefered bonus, valkyrie is nice)

If you find yourself dying a lot in the missions on the starter island and a simple change of tactics doesn't alleviate that then get better armor. A higher AL will make you somewhat harder to kill. You are an assassin for godsakes, dying is expected by all accounts...
Now, it is true that you can go through noob island without ever upgrading, but if you want a little edge on the survival side of the house, up your armor level via collectors or crafters.

if you want survivor title, then safest way is to upgrade at every step, otherwise +health or +energy when u start dieing too much.
